香港才掂! ONLY IN HONG KONG!

On 18 March 2026, the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s annual Tourism Overview drew a record audience of nearly 2,000 participants, both online and in person. The event brought together representatives from the global travel trade, the MICE sector, and academia to review the latest market trends and hear HKTB’s strategic direction for the year ahead.

HKTB Chairman Dr. Peter Lam underscored the Board’s commitment to innovation and thanked the trade for its steadfast support. He unveiled a new thematic framework — the “3 Ds”: Diversification, Differentiation, Distinction — designed to spotlight Hong Kong’s dynamic and distinctive visitor experiences to the world.

Executive Director Mr. Anthony Lau set out the Board’s core strategies for the year: reallocating market investment to drive growth in higher-value overnight arrivals; strengthening trade support and partnerships; and positioning Hong Kong more distinctly on the global stage.

The programme featured a series of thematic forums where international experts shared practical strategies for leveraging Hong Kong’s MICE strengths and developing high-end, experience-led travel products. HKTB reiterated its commitment to close collaboration with industry stakeholders to maximise tourism’s economic benefits and to support sustainable sector growth.

The next day, our guide and co-founder Alexandra Malandain was honoured with the Outstanding Tourist Guide of Hong Kong award from the Travel Industry Authority (TIA). Alexandra dedicated the award to Hong Kong’s tourism community and to everyone who has supported her journey.

Reflecting the themes of the HKTB event, she said, “My work is driven by a passion for sharing Hong Kong’s stories, culture and hidden corners with visitors. I remain committed to raising service standards, mentoring fellow guides, and ensuring every guest leaves with an authentic, memorable experience. This recognition belongs not only to me but to the many colleagues and partners who make great visitor experiences possible.”

The Outstanding Tourist Guide scheme recognises exceptional guides and tour escorts and highlights their contributions to Hong Kong’s travel industry. By celebrating excellence, the scheme encourages the whole sector to continue delivering high-quality services that welcome and delight visitors.

We extend our thanks to Mr. Kevin Lam Sze-cay, TIA Chairman, and to Vice Chairperson Mrs. Angelina Cheung Fung-wing (Commissioner for Tourism) for helping make this inaugural commendation possible. Here’s to many more milestones for Hong Kong tourism.
