Hong Kong 7’s

From 6 to 8 April, Hong Kong welcomes the Rugby Sevens tournament.

Despite the number of players, the main difference with fifteen-a-side matches lays in the duration of each half: 7 minutes versus 40 minutes for 15-a-side matches.

The sport, which originated from Scotland in 1883, became an Olympic game in 2016. And every four years, 24 nations compete in The Rugby Sevens World Cup.

This year, the Hong Kong Stadium, the biggest outdoor sportive complex in the city, will welcome 40 teams and 120,000 supporters over the 3-day extravaganza. Numerous festivals and events are organised throughout Hong Kong to allow children and adults to enjoy rugby.

While waiting for the 7s, you could, for example, attend the kick off concert by the famous reggae band, UB 40, on 5 April at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

If Rugby is not your thing or if all these sportive activities motivate you to do sport, why not go hiking in the surrounding hills to avoid Causeway Bay’s madness?
